When considering a Commercial Insurance policy, what is important is that you have the cover that you need and do not pay for cover that you will never need. The strange thing is that experience has taught us that many businesses are given package policies which provide very good cover, but which do not meet the individual needs of the individual client. A motor traders policy that covers an individual selling cars off his drive is not the same as a full main agent dealer or a body shop or car valet.

Therefore to ensure, as far as possible, that we give the cover required we will spend as much time as necessary to go through the individual requirements of any business before completing a proposal and will seek the specific covers required using a ‘package’ if appropriate but selecting sections from a ‘commercial combined’ policy if more appropriate.

We insure many blocks of flats and let properties of all sizes and can provide cover at competitive cost for all risks in these areas. However, we do advise that the cover should be appropriate to the risk. The time to find out that you have the wrong policy is not at the time of a claim.

For let commercial property where there is a full insuring and repairing lease, the situation is still that you, as the landlord, insure the property but then pass on the cost to your tenant.

The cover also extends to holiday let property and any other let property or where a development site may be shared between a number of property owners who insure their houses individually but have a common area of land.

Commercial Insurance can become quite involved, it is our job to explain how the cover matches your requirements.

Among the most important parts of commercial covers are the Employers Liability, Public Liability and Products Liability covers and these need to be considered carefully to ensure that all employees and situations are covered. It is not helpful to find out, at the time of a claim, that there was something not disclosed at the time of the proposal which means that the claim is rejected.

Work away and application of heat are often aspects that can result in increased premiums but an initial discussion will give us most of the information required and then completion of a proposal form will add to the basic knowledge of the business.

Business Interruption can be based on gross profit or increased cost of working but we can discuss which method is most suited to an individual risk.

Goods in Transit cover may be required if you deliver in your own vehicle or even if you use national carriers, their cover tends to be limited.

We are only ever as good as our last quote and our last claim, but we do make every effort to ensure that you understand the cover you have is relevant to your circumstances.
